6cyl to v8 steering
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:48:01 PM »
my falcon has the original 6 cyl manual steering components and im putting a small block in it. i planned on replacing all the 6 cyl components for now till i have the car ready for the swap(sometime next year). can i just buy the v8 steering parts and put them in instead or will it not work with the 6 cyl? i dont really know much about what the difference is between the 6 cyl and v8 steering...

and when i say steering parts, i mean sumthin like this:

You are going to need new spindles, front brakes/drums, 5 lug wheels, coil springs and a center link as well as the tie rod ends and idle arm that you have in the picture. It would be advisable to replace the upper ball joints, upper arm shafts and lower arm/ball joint. The bad news is you need a Falcon V8 steering box and cannot use a Mustang box, different length of shafts. It goes on as you will need a Falcon V8 drive shaft but can use a Mustang 8 inch rear axle.

i was afraid of that...

my next question would have to be, what cars share the same 5 lug spindles as the falcon. my buddies got a pair of v8 spindles/drums off his 67 mustang he said i could have, would those work on my 65 falcon?

Most likely.  Take some measurements.
