« on: September 10, 2008, 09:58:12 PM »
Hello, I have a 67 289 Mustang with no power steering I would like to add it, are there any other options like a new gear box or do I need the whole slave cylinder set up? also I have long tube headers do I need a adaptor for the slave? Thanks Jeff

Check ABS Power Brake they have an integral power steering gear that bolts right in and eliminates several hoses that leak on the OEM PS.  I have it installed on my 1966 Mustang and 1967 Ranchero.  Ranchero has manual transmission with original type "Z" bar which required minor modifications.

I'm aslos interested in doing this,  since I'm using the ford HP z-bar (boss 302 replacment) which has a generous arc area, I'm wondering if it could be shimmed or slightlt modified to fit?

my current config, 67 coupe, 347ci, tremec 3550, z-bar linkage, FR manaul box with 1" 1x8 sector, 68 tilts column, poly rag joint,

do I need to shorten the columsn? or just slide it up more?

I have installed the ABS integral PS gear in my 1966 Mustang that uses a 1968 steering column (collapsible with rag joint) and a slightly modified Z bar.  I have photos of what must be done and I have made up some spare parts that remount the Z bar.  It must be moved toward firewall to allow the gear box to occupy the space where the forward bolt was for the Z bar trunnion.  Provide me your email address and I will send a complete description with photos.  tbndb98@verizon.net
