I rebuilt my autolite 2100 yesterday, and when I removed the spacer and gasket from the manifold there was a chamber on the driver side that was full of oil.  Does anyone know where the oil would come from and why the chamber is there?  Thanks in advance for any help.

It's probably not oil, but a collection of gas that has thickened over time and heat.  The gasket probably has been leaking for sometime now.  The reason for the depression is to disperse heat to keep vapor lock down to a minimum.  Just replace the gasket and you should be fine.  Did you make sure the float on that 2100 that you rebuilt was set properly?  That is about the most important step in rebuilding those 2100's.  I have rebuilt maybe 200 of them, and I always took my time in the exact float adjustment.

Old gas makes a lot more sense than oil, I guess I should have given it the sniff test.  I set the float at 3/8, carb upside down over my head like I read in one of your earlier posts.  Cool trick.  Thanks for the help.  I'll bolt it on tonight and see how it works.

Hey 66 Convert. Jeff from Bend, OR here. Very nice 66' convertible I am working on a 67' convertible.

Looking forward to warmer weather over on this side of the mountains so I can take mine out of the shop and drive it over the summer!!

Thanks Jeff.  We've been thinking about taking it over to Bend, but we always end up taking the chevy instead.  It's just a little too far to be a fun drive in a convertible.  I plan on going to the car show one of these days though, hope to see you there.

Each August during a weekend they close downtown Bend to normal street traffic and only allow classics to cruise, No racing or burn off's but a lot of great cars to look at and see driving the route. Hopefully I will have my car done to run it this year. Last year several hot Mustangs, Boss's, Shelby's and other American classic's I cannot mention specifically on this site.

Lots of fun, maybe something to think about during 2010?

It was gas.  I bought a pair of Fel-Pro gaskets to use instead of the thin ones that came with the kit.  Thanks Soaring.

I hope to make it to Bend this summer Jeff, it sounds like a mini Hot August Nights.  If I do I'll send a note before I go.

Is that 2100 purring like a kitten now?  That is the toughest, most reliable carb on the face of this earth.
