351C Heads and 351W heads - and 302 Fit
« on: February 27, 2011, 10:23:25 AM »
Any one know how much difference there is between Cleveland 351 heads and Windsor 351 heads?

I'm think of add those to my 302 (bore 0.03)...1970.  They'll have to be the V4 heads.

Thanks in advance.

well if i remember the clevland aead on a 302 is like making it a boss 302.  they do need to be modified for them to work, i belive an oil passage or coolant passage needs to be pluged, the 351 windsor heads are a direct bolt on for the most part.  if you are going stock 4v heads i would do the clevland heads (as they flow a little better and make more power, depending on the casting).  you can google the mods for those, i was going to do them one time but bought aluminum heads instead.

I would use the 351 Windsor 4V heads from 69 or 70 if you can find a set

i'll see what i can do.  are you stuck on using a stock style set, or aftermarket aluminum?

I have a set of 4V OC heads and a set of 2v OC heads, both sets are in good usable stock conditions  PM me if you are interested.

On a 302 motor, you will want to look at intake availability before choosing a head as 2v intakes and 4v intakes are different enough that you should not interchange most of them.

Either one in stock form will give you great flow numbers, but the huge ports of the 4Vs tend to cause low end torque to be reduced.

Pretty sure you need a special intake to run cleveland heads on a windsor. Cleveland engines dont have water flow through the intake windsors do..
