351c build coming to a close
« on: January 24, 2010, 07:42:14 PM »
So after nearly two months of constant screw ups from my machine shop my Cleveland is finally coming to an end. Here are the specs:
351c CJ bored .30 over (357 CID)
Standard crank ground and polished
Completely balanced
Forged Domed pistons (10:1 compression)
ARP head/rod bolts
4v heads with new stainless steel valves, ported and polished
ford racing roller rockers
comp cams roller cam .612 lift/304 duration/110 degree lobe separation
Standard rods re-sized with ARP bolts
Hooker headers
Weiend X-ellerator aluminum intake
Holley 770 cfm street avenger carb
MSD everything
im sure there is more but i cant think of it off the top of my head
Target horsepower 450+
Backed by a toploader 4 speed close ratio w/ Hurst shifter.
If i think of more ill post it, thanks for reading.

Well the new cowl is being welded in today so once that is finished im spraying the engine bay and the motor should be able to go in the car by the end of this week or beginning of next. We'll see!

Take your time and get that engine bay really clean and everything tucked away.  I would use a wire wheel and get that sucker all the way down to raw metal, then sand blast or medium blast  it before paint.  That is something you will only do in your lifetime.

Yup i've been wire wheeling the hell out of it. I scraped off all the old silicon that was causing some surface rust and seam sealed it all, next is some clean up then paint.

I would lay down a good coat of POR 15, another rust inhibitor or at least a coating of Primer before I added the color. I would use a black semi-gloss paint too.
