car starts well runs well then after 25 miles it cuts out then 30min later starts ok then runs for a 25 miles then cuts out

Try moving your coil to the inner fender. Your coil is getting too hot where it is located.

i have had the car 9 years why has that just started . is this a comn problem ?

the car had the problem with old coil so i have put a new coil on the car and the promlem is still hapning ?

at the weekend i am going to move the coil away from the heat and if a new coil is their a good coil to get the car has pointles distributaor (sorry i cant spell )

get an HEI or get the Ignitor electronic ignition. its pretty much the exact same thing just a lot cheaper. and get the flame-thrower coil to go along with it i would suggest. i think glen usually suggests these to people as well.

just found the coil was on a coolant pipe (not good )

Well, at least we got some good conversation going on about coils.

I just bought a new one a few years ago, and I probably didn't have to, but I just did. I also painted the top of it Yeller.

Picked up at the local no-name parts store and she works just fine, even with the pertronix system. I have my doubts that the flame thrower or the flame thrower II are any better than the one I picked up for a song. Sometimes we restore guys get led down a path of bullshit that only costs us more money, not any more performance. If some of these coils put out the flame they advertise, it would burn a hole right through your plugs and your pistons. So, they don't. Snake oil.....

thank you for your help we moved the new coil up to the back window

and took the car for a drive we drove for 70 miles so i think we have fixed it

it was only moved up 6 inches up away from the heat but it is cool now

I looked at that picture for about 5 minutes and never did figure out what I was looking at. It appears to be a rear engined car with the driver's steering wheel on the right side. Weird.....

Yeah, take one from the front of the car. I'd like to see a radiator, the carburetor, the coil, then the windshield of that 78.

the radiator is in the font of the car were it should be
