302 question

(1/1)

Jeff1967:
Looking at a 302 engine for my car, is anyone familiar with a 1969-70 D series? I cannot find anything on it?

Topless_Horse:
I have no idea what you mean by "D" series but the 69-70 302's are basically a stroked 289 that was introduced in 1967-68.  They're generally considered to be good, reliable engines.  They have the 28 oz imbalance, same as the 289 and 351W.  All the front accessories, the heads, the oil pan, the intake and distributor from a 289 will fit on the 302.

Jeff1967:
Then It should bolt up to my 67's C4 correct?

Topless_Horse:
You are correct - it should bolt right up.  But if the car it was in had a manual shift you'll need to remove the pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft first.

Jeff1967:
Thank you
