Okay, can someone explain to me on proper tune up steps from finding tdc to the finish!   please keep it simple Thanks Jeff

[holdover]

Two ways, here is # 1 DO both ways with coil wire unplugged or removed
Take out # 1 spark Plug
Use a remote starter button or have someone “click” the ignition key to start position
Have finger over spark plug hole, when you get a pop that was cyl at TDC or very close.
Look at timing mark on  damper and confirm pointer is at TDC. May have to turn crank a slight bit to get to TDC
Pull dist cap, rotor should be pointing to #1 wire, be sure to check firing order and rotation order

Second way
If right valve cover is off, or whichever valve cover is on the #1 side, click over starter, watch valves, when both intake and exhaust on # 1 don’t move you are on the  compression stroke, again confirm mark on damper, may have to turn crank a bit to get to TDC
follow above with dist cap etc.

Another interesting way to get the #1 piston to the top of the cylinder, is to stuff a rag in the plug hole, and when the compression pops out the rag you are at TDC.  The rag will make a very audible pop sound when it blows out.
