Two ways, here is # 1 DO both ways with coil wire unplugged or removed
Take out # 1 spark Plug
Use a remote starter button or have someone “click” the ignition key to start position
Have finger over spark plug hole, when you get a pop that was cyl at TDC or very close.
Look at timing mark on damper and confirm pointer is at TDC. May have to turn crank a slight bit to get to TDC
Pull dist cap, rotor should be pointing to #1 wire, be sure to check firing order and rotation order
Second way
If right valve cover is off, or whichever valve cover is on the #1 side, click over starter, watch valves, when both intake and exhaust on # 1 don’t move you are on the compression stroke, again confirm mark on damper, may have to turn crank a bit to get to TDC
follow above with dist cap etc.
