289 2 barrel (little black specs)
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:34:14 PM »
Hi all,
I noticed in my driveway where I start my car there is two little lines of black specks. I am assuming the black specks are coming out of the exhaust. I do smell a strong order of gas or exhaust in the car but was a little concern that this could be a big problem?  Could this be a carb problem that just needs a little adjustment? I noticed reading others posts that this may be the case. I took the car from texas and now it is here in Canada with a much higher altitude.

Going to convert my single MC to a duel like I was suggested for safety. With the family going to ride in the car next year I just want to make sure it is as safe as possible.

If you have a vacuum gauge, you can tune that carb with it.  But,if not, then just do it by ear.  The reason for the black shit is because you are running rich.  Turn your idle adjustment screws out about 1/2 a turn and see if that helps.  If not, then you may need a carb overhaul, or a timing adjustment.  If you need some carb overhauling help, PM me.
