Am not too familiar with Windsors and Clevelands. But I am told 1970 Mach 1s normally came with Clevelands. Would it be weird for it to come with a 2 bbl 351W?

Standard engine was the new 351 c.i. V-8. This engine was basically an enlarged 302 and is known as the 351 Windsor, as it was made in Ford's Windsor plant. With the two-barrel carburetor and single exhaust, the base Mach 1 engine was rated at 250hp. The optional 290hp. 351 c.i. V-8 four barrel engine came with dual exhausts and chrome quad outlets. The old 390 c.i. V-8 was also optional, rated at 320hp, with the top engine option being the torquey 428CJ, rated at 335hp . The most powerful 428CJ came with the "Shaker" hood scoop- attached to the engine, it "shook" as the engine idled. The Shaker was optional on the both 351s and 390 V-8. A lot of engines to choose from, to be sure.

So basiclly the first buyer was cheap and bought the base model Mach1, who cares still a sweet car.

I will look at my book tonight when I get home.   But is your question is it normal for it to have a windsor or are you asking if its a windsor.

Back in the day motors were swaped all the time if the first one blew or what have you, no one seemed to care if it was all original.   I don't think the cleveland even came out until 71 or so but like I said I will look at my mustang book when I get home

My book says that the 351c was first offered in 70.  whats the first 6 numbers and letters on the vin.  But the windsor was standered and the 351 cleveland and the 428 cobra jet as options.
