A member from the French section is restoring a 66 Mustang and asked me what the part below is for. It was welded on the pedal assembly.

Thierry,
There are no metal rods on the gas pedal assembly that are square on a manual transmission.   Here are some pics of my 65 assembly that you can share with him to give him a visual on how it is supposed to be if he has a manual transmission.

That's the arm for the kickdown to the automatic transmission used on 1966 thru 1968 cars. In 1965, both the I6 and V8 used a bell crank type.

Thanks Jim....So Thierry, if your Frenchman has an automatic C4 transmission, that is the automatic kick down arm.

So, how do you say that is your C4 automatic transmission kickdown arm in French?   ;D

This is what I replied:

La fonction de cette patte serait donc pour commander le kick-down de la boite auto.
Translation:
The function of this arm would be to control the kickdown of the automatic transmission   :P

Very good.  I'm sure he will be most appreciative of that expert advice, and will let other French mustang owners know of this site where the owner speaks several languages to include French.  Good job boss.
