Topic: Sound deadener

I am going to have to replace the carpet in my 68 coupe and I am going to add a sound deadener/insulation underneath it. What is a good brand? I was told to use Fat Mat but now I am hearing conflicting stories.

Just about any product will have its supporters and detractors. I am almost willing to bet that operator problem accounts for most of the negatives. For what I've seen they cost more than people are willing to spend so they "cheat". Check out the bulk stock cut to fit and the pre cut types for Mustang from NPD to give you an idea what cost are.

So there isn't any one you would recommend over others Jim? Being this is my first time I will probably get precut

The only brand that comes to mind is Dynamat http://www.dynamat.com/ I've not used them so I can't say one way or another. The installations I've seen (mostly magazine pictures) showed a lot of silvery surface covering the interior of cars before the carpet goes in. I might consider the precut too.
