Quarter Panels
« on: January 04, 2010, 03:34:38 PM »
I'm nearing the end of metal work on my 1970 coupe and I am finding it impossible to find rear quarter panels for it. Fastback and convertible are easy to find so I don't understand why coupe isn't considering there were so many made. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this and I was thinking mayb from slightly above the wheel well down might be the same on a convertible as a coupe and mayb that could be a solution for me? I only need mayb 2-3 inches above wheel down to bottom...do you think it would work?

Look in the NPD catalog on page 155.  They have the rear quarter panel repair listed for the 70 coupe and convertible.  I don't think there is any difference in the rear quarter panel between the vert and the coupe.

No, there is no difference between the hardtop and the convertible quarter panels.
Here is one for 1970 HT/CONVERTIBLE:

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site but I had this problem about two years ago when I started working on my 70 coupe. The qrtr panels for the cpe and cvrt are different, the convertable has a body line that runs just above the marker light from the wheel well to the bumper. On the coupe this body line is deleted. I bought qrtr panels from mustangs unlimited and had them cut at the body line and rewelded back together for the smooth finish.
