hey there I am wondering what to do with my wifes 73 coupe. I am redoing it for he and I noticed that the front end is rotted out under the main cross member under the motor. How hard would it be to replace the metal or should I try and find new one or just upgrade with costume front end with all new suspension and a arms. Ant sudjestions is welcome

i have desided to cut the metal out and weld new stuff in ,basicelly going to box it in .should look good when done.ill post pics thanks for the reply

well here is my progress so far. I stripped the doors and fender. getting ready to get new fender aprons and I just bought a brand new fender, to loazy to fix the stock one. Buy the way I am selling my fender. that only problem with it is a little damage on the very front of it. just a little creeses ,only surface rust on the bottom and if anyone wantes to make an offer for and a set of doors and glass. I will post pics soon to show you.

here is a pic of the finish project will look like .minus the wheels and the stripes on the bottom. I am going to put on American Racing Torq thrust but the 5 spokes will be Argent colored.

ok you asked for it. Here is the a pic of rust I found on the door. sorry pics are out of order. the bottom is the door repair. were ther is primer is all new metal. As you know 73 's are known for rusting out under the window. I used a donar car and cut out a section out .fun funfun.The only problem I haveing is the new fender. the fron fender extension is not fitting right. I guess because the old one was bent up.

if you can see the spedo its says 66,000 original miles.
the hood is not the stock one. believe it or not I found a ram air for 75 bucks and yes its all metal. The only thing I had to do was to sand it. We all know how hard it is to find a meatl one. a guy offerd me 500 bucks for it.
I also have the stock front driver fender for sale. all that is wrong is it has wrinkles on the very front and the rest is great. I' ll post pics if any one is interested.
the next thing need to do is the inner fender aprons. if any one has ideas how the best way to do it pleas reply. I am hoping i dont have to take the motor out.

You are doing a great job with this car. Did you have to replace the rear quarters?
I think the seats would look great in a Pro touring style restoration but if you plan to keep it stock my personal opinion would be to keep the original ones with new covers if needed.
If it is easier for you to take the motor out to fix the inner fender aprons I would do it as your car would look much better if you paint the engine bay without it.
Anyways congratulations and I hope you will keep us informed about the evolution of your project.

basically all were the ptimer is is new metal. Yes thos are new quarters on both sides, the tail light section is also new as well as the truck drop offs. The stock seats are all ready gone so those euro seats will have to do, it should make a more comfy ride. debating on wether or not to put a 5 point harness in.I am going to redo the back seats with the same fabric as the fron to match.IT should be easy since I am all ready a seat biulder for Ford.
Next thing I am doing is the fender aprons. Iam thinking about useing oil based rust olyum paint for the under carriage, and sub frame as well as the engine compartment and the truck to prevent future rust.
I all ready used poxy primer when the new quarters were put on. Likes always FUN FUN FUN FUN. by the way did I mention Iwas for my wife and me :-( . thats all right . because she told that when the car is done I can get what ever project I want. :lol: I am thinking a 40 willy's truck...
