Can anyone shed some light, or provide a decent schematic detailing the wiring for the hazard lights and rear defroster?

It looks like its all wired up properly, but nothing...

assuming you already checked the fuse. you should check the wires. take a multimeter and check from point to point. that could be the issue.

in my first car the previous owner had let their dog in the car and it had scratched the back window and ruined the defrost wires themselves. If they have even a tiny break somewhere along them they stop working. Take a multimeter and test the actual wires on the window. Once you've confirmed that power is going into it on one end, test the individual wires on the window.
