turbo on 306
« on: September 07, 2010, 12:03:43 PM »
Ok so i need i bit of help. I built a 306 motor with D.S.S forged flate top pistions, stock rod length stock crack with. 010 cut stock head with slight mill to clean up stock vavles, push rods, 600 lift springs 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers, cobra upper and lower with 1in spacer 65mm T/B, E-303 cam

Now as far as the the turbo don't know to much about them. So i asked a buddy of mine what size he thought it might b he said look for the A/R and that would be it so it says .63. He told me that it would be a 63 trim not to sure on that tho. Im going to have a shop look at it and see if they can tell me anything.

Ok now how i plan on running the turbo.  I am going to pick up a set of twin turbo header and only use the one (can't find single for just one side)  so it will be running off 4 cyl at 8-12 lbs of boost. The fuel system for now is going to be 255 fuel pump stock line that feed in to bbl fuel kit with 30 lb injectors. Now i know i need to upgrade the line themselfs but im doing budget to get the car back up and running. Going to sump the tank and do all new lines.

How do you think i will do this set up power wise?  Yes i know that the right turbo size may help alot more will fine that out tomorrow and let you guys know. Thank for looking and putting your two cents in.

IF YOU ONLY RUN ONE TURBO OFF OF ONE BANK OF CYLINDERS YOU WILLEITHER BREAK YOUR CRANK... RUIN THE MAIN BEARINGS BY CAUSING AN OUT OF BALANCE LOAD ON THE ENGINE (DUE TO 4 OF THE CYLINDERS WORKING HARDER TO PUSH OUT EXHAUST GASES)... OR YOU'LL HAVE ALL KINDA OF WIERD SHIT GO WRONG!!!  NEVER run a turbo on a few cylinders.

its because they have both headers connected by a crossover pipe and that then feeds one turbo, its the same way you would do if you were running one huge turbo your exhaust would go into a single exhaust pipe then all exhaust gasses from every cylinder will go thru one turbo

Dirty Doug is right.  Don't run an unbalanced engine.

you said you were budgeted so instead of buying another 63 trim why not sell yours and buy a couple of 50 trims or something
