Timing is off!!!!
« on: October 28, 2009, 02:15:46 PM »
I am having problem with my timing. I did a efi conversion in my 64 1/2 mustang and im trying to get my timing right. From the sound of it right now i can tell that the timing is off a little but can anyone show many articles or pics, etc on how to fix the timing.

Here is a link to a video of how the car is sounding now...

I set the timing by ear, so can't help with the links or videos.  If the engine is running just fine, but not quite there yet, just keep tweaking the timing to get it at its' optimum performance level.  Different sea levels will require a different timing setting.

You can perform an initial timing procedure to determine if the distributor is one gear off.

roll the crank by hand until you see the mark for the stock timing. then pull the #1 plug to make sure youre at tdc. if so pull the distributor and set it in to where the rotor is at #1 wire. that should get you started. i hope thats what you were talking about soaring.
