OK SO HERES THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN SOME OIL BUBBLING FROM THE LOWER INTAKE PLENUM RIGHT WHERE IT CURVES AROUND THE DISTRIBUTOR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT COULD BE A DISTRIBUTOR SEAL BUT WHEN REMOVED ITS FINE. I THINK ITS THE INTAKE GASKET BUT I PRETTY SURE OIL DOESNT RUN IN THERE. I HAVE USED OIL DYE AND THROTTLED IT UP WHILE STARING AT THE POSSIBLE LEAK AND IT ALL POINT TO THE INTAKE. JUST LOOKING FOR SOME OTHER IDEAS OR IF YOU HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ID LIKE TO KNOW. IM IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE UPPER PLENUM OFF BUT IM HAVING PROBLEMS DISCONNECTING THE HOSES FROM THE BACK OF THE UPPER PLENUM. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS.

I'm confused.  Is this an oil "Pressure" problem, or an oil "leak" problem?  If you are concerned about the leak under your intake, then just simply take the intake off and replace the gasket.

its both i guess. the leak isnt a lot but the higher the rpms the more it bubbles out and sprays all over the water pump and such. like i said the pressure is still at a okay pressure but it was higher before this problem.

Yeah, you just need to get that gasket replaced.  Of course it is going to leak more at higher pressure.  Be sure you download a correct torque guide so you get those bolts torqued just right and in the right sequence, then you won't have future problems.  I have those torque specs in the FAQ section on the classic board.

is your pcv stopped up might be building up crankcase pressure and not venting

Then you're on the right track by replacing the gasket.  Be sure you use blue RTV in the corners.

i dont like to you the stuff in the corners, i just throw the entire end seal away and run a bead of rtv across the back and front

That works too Stephen, but at least use the RTV on the corners and not the gasket.

Between me, Stephen and Jim, we can take that engine apart and put it back together in the dark blindfolded.  Get back here if you have more questions or run into a snag.  If you are on any other forums and have friends there, ask them in a PM to come visit here and enjoy friendly classic Mustang discussion.

ok now im starting to get get frustrated. i can get it to run but it isnt timed exactly right. one weird thing is that even though i put the spacer between the intake plenums it seems to be running more rich than before. i dont know if this is do to the timing or not. everytime i start it up there is a cloud of smoke. a friend of mine said it was because it was running so rich and the fact that i dont have any cats on it. i just dont know why it would run richer now with more airflow and no increase in fuel. so if any of you have any ideas im all ears.

Don't get frustrated, that's when you start fuckin up.  I sounds like you need to check you spark plug wire routing.  Tell me what your wiring routing is.  If you don't know, and don't know how to check it , get back.  If it smokes and sounds like it is missing and doesn't have much power, then that is your problem.

ive already checked the plug wires a few times actually just to make sure. i have been able to drive it and there hasnt been much power loss but i know its off because sometimes it wants to spurt almost backfire. im hoping i just need to put a timing light on it.

Besides timing it, you might want to check the gap on a few plugs to make sure they are close.  Also check and reset your points if you still have them.  The best advice I can give you about points is to throw them as far as you can and put in an electronic ignition system.  Pertronix is the cheapest way to go, and works very well.

did you set the timing with a light and the spout disconnected?  if not you need to remove the spout and then start the car 10beg btdc is stock but you can go higher i run about 12deg in my 5.0 but if you go higher then you need to run mid grade or premium also. but there will be an increase in gas mileage that will offset the additional cost.
