Oil Leak on 302?
« on: March 11, 2011, 05:48:18 PM »
Freshly rebuilt 302 I just put in an 85 mustang... I've got an oil leak that looks like it's coming from the bottom of the head just below the #7 plug. But common sense and a couple articles reassured me that it's not coming from the head itself.
But I can't seem to pinpoint where it is coming from. Doesn't seem to be coming from the valve cover gasket (which are new) and is way too high up on the block to be coming from the rear main seal.
Reason I first thought it to be coming from the head gasket is because as I push the RPMs up around 3000 I can see the oil spraying off the head just under the #7 plug... But now I'm assuming it's just the air from the fan throwing it from that spot.
Any advise or ideas appreciated here as I've been tinkering with it for a couple days now and I'm at a loss.
Thanks and Regards,
Rob.
