Topic: New ford guy with rearend question

I just picked up a 85 gt with a 66 289, 5 spd. It HAD a 7.5 rearend, I need to know what Yr.,Model 8.8 would be a direct bolt-in, I'm new to fords,{but converting quickly} so any help will be very usefull, thank you.

What you have is a quagmire of parts from all over the spectrum.  The 85 didn't have a 289, and didn't have a 289 attached to a 5 speed tranny.  The 8.8's didn't come out until the mid 80's.  What 5 speed tranny do you have?

Ya, the 5.0 that was in it was shot, put in an on-hand 289., it's the t50d 5 spd.
