New c4 Problems
« on: September 02, 2009, 02:23:42 PM »
I got a 1988 Mustang Notchback that has a early model 302 in it, I was running a t5 but kept blowing them, so i upgraded to a built c4, The c4 has a shift kit, fully rebuilt to with stand major horse power, but now when I get on it, it seems not to move? It will move but not as quick as it should, Whats the problem, any ideas?

its posssible that the valve body could be sticking, pull it out and clean it and make sure all valves move smothly. and make sure springs and balls are in the correct place.

You can also adjust the bands on it without pulling it from the engine.  Check the FAQ section in the classic section here to see how to do it.  Also, go ahead and pull the pan and change the fluid and clean the screen if that hasn't been done in awhile.  When you drive it hard, expect things to break eventually.

Hi

I think it is simpler than that. Gear Ratio difference.
What gear do you have now 3.08?

I don't think the rear gear ratio would make any difference.  The rear end gear will react to whatever the turn of the driveshaft gives it.

Hi

Sorry to say, But Ratio makes a huge difference!

If not everyone would have a direct drive system.

Trany ratio + rear end ratio = response.
Torque is the push.
