need help before spend an a** load of money
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:58:13 PM »
ok to start i am going nuts trying to find it. heres my problem if the car is cold it will start fine and idle fine that is until i step on the gas just a lil bit and the car brakes up and back fires. let it warm up and u can rev it up but if u put it i 1st and start to go the car brack up again and will do this for maybe 10 to 15 mins of driving and wen its hot it will run perfectly. ok now say i stop to get gas turn the car off go to start again just turns over over over if i hold the gas down all the way to the floor then try starting it starts right up. the car is an 87 gt speed density. has the flowing done cobra intake under drive pullies msd cap n rotor full exhaust system adjustable fuel reg.

what i think might be wrong with it. injectores leaking or bad, the flange on the top of the gas tank feel and messed up the fuel pump (have new one ready to go in) or the adjustable regulator is bad (also have a new to go in)

thanks

i have a similar prob. first quest is what is timing set at. next after warm does it rev past 4k rpm. i agree most likely a fuel issue. im going to dive into mine this week so might have better answers in a couple of days. start witht the fuel filter. probably the easiest and cheapest fix.

timing is set to about 12 dagrees will do a double check.. after warm up it gose past four grand n/p, but thats from sitting (just an idle) if i go to drive it starts all over again untill it warms up again lol then no problems. what would be causeing the hot start issue i thought maybe starter but like i said if the gas is held to the floor before start and it will start with n/p.. I'm onl 21 no the basics of what i am doing and this is my frist project, this is just rattling my brain to no end. :-\. its got me to the point where the car has sat in my drive way for the past 2 months doing nothing but just the once a week start up :'(. so n e in formation u get from yours will be great thanks alot

ok so i think i might have figured out what was wrong with it. my old adjustable was shot.put a new one on and presto problem went away except for starting wen its hot still have to hold gas to floor
