motorcraft 2 barrel CFM?
« on: April 27, 2009, 09:15:35 PM »
Does anyone know what cfm a motorcraft 2 barrel is.  It is off of a 1982 LX 302.  I can not find any info on the cfm for 2 barrel motorcraft carbs.  Thank you for any input.

Look on the right side of the front bowl as you are looking at the carb, and you will see a circle with the CFM engraved there.  It will be a 1.08, or 1.12 most likely.

Yeah, most folks don't really get educated enough to find out these things.  What CFM is yours?

My carb say 121 on that side.   No wonder my plugs are brite white.  Would a holley 500cfm be to much?  I am looking pretty hard for one of those.  Man 121 cfm is for a small 4 banger.  UNREAL

No, a 121 two V carb is for a 351 Windsor.  The larger the number, the bigger the CFM.  If you have a stock 302 it should be a 108 CFM carb.  But, if it is running fine, don't mess with it.  White plugs are just a hair away from grey which is the ultimate color of plugs.  At least they aren't black which indicates oil burning.   ;D

Then you need to overhaul the carb.  Let me know if you can do it and I can lead you through it,. or if you want to send the carb to me and have me overhaul it at a cost fro shipping and parts.

The folks, who are looking here are trying to educate themselves. This post is like the "New Math" where 2 + 2 = 5
How could this could go over two years without being questioned is beyond belief!
I read this post and had to register and reopen this post to correct the BAD/ MISLEADING flat out WRONG information contained in it.
People pretending to know what they are talking about and posting it it as fact, just to get the number of posts next to their  name to make them seem credible is as Wrong as the info contained in this post.

Educate yourself with this. The numbers talked about in this post are not the CFM of that carb. The number indicates the size of the venturies of the carb. Be it 2v or 4v. I don't know the 2v specs. But a 1.08 on a 4v is about a 480cfm and a 1.12 is a 600cfm. As advertised the actual flow has been tested to be less.
