You're going to have to furnish some more information.  By hearing a motor runnning, can we assume they are electric windows?  If so, you are going to need to take the inside panel off in order to inspect the mechanism.  Most likely, a screw or bolt has come loose and the crank gears are not meshing with the electric motor gears.  But, at any rate, something needs to be repaired obviously.  Now, are you  mechanically inclined enough to fix it yourself, or do you need to take it to a repair facility?

actually is a very simple fix, what has gone wrong is a built in safety feature. there are three plastic rollers in the motor they are supposed to shear off when a child stick an arm in the window and someone rolls it up or wood etc anything.

well since its plastic it has a working life before it goes bad. you need to remove the speaker panel in trim unbolt the motor. remove the cover plate that holds the exposed gear in. then remove the gear, now you have to clean out all the broken plastic and grease out of the inside. then you need new rollers auto zone advanced etc sell them in the help section. now its a little tricky on getting the rollers and the gear in at the same time. but basically your gonna put a little grease on each roller and partially insert the rollers(the grease is need you gotta slightly angle them) then insert the gear and push it home it might take a few tries. once you get it home reinstall the cover palte and reinstall the motor back in the car put the speaker back in place and your finished

So THAT'S how those safety devices work.  Man, that really sucks.  If your idiot kid sticks their arm out the window and hits the button to roll it up just to see if it works or not (and you know that happens) then having to repair the mechanism everytime would have me welding the damn window shut.   ;D
