I need some help with this here
« on: March 10, 2009, 01:28:11 AM »
I went to look at a 93 gt hatch the was in really nice condition but had a problem that i was told was actually something kinda big.

I test drove the car and when i pulled into the guy's driveway, the radiator started puking water and coolant everywhere. The guy told me that the pressure cap was bad and all i needed was a new one, however my step-dad told me that this was caused by a bad head gasket that was leaking into the water jacket, thus causing compression in the radiator.

Is that a plausible problem?

Thanks in advance guys

-Charles

If it was only a rad cap, then the owner would have replaced it before he tried to sell the car.  If the head gasket is leaking, then water would be in the oil.  That can easily be identified by looking at the dipstick for telltale water spots.  If the rest of the car is in pristine condition, and you can get it for a song, then the head gasket can be replaced and you will most likely have a nice Mustang, but otherwise, I would walk away from this liar.

Is your car a notch or a hatch?
