I was wondering if I can take the lifters & cam out of my 1990 302 & put them in my 1970 block?
I got an old block that was bored out .30 over & wanted to use the accesories off my newr engine.

Thanks in advance - MIKE

Mike, in about 1986 or so, Ford changed the 302 configuration slightly, in that they put in taller lifter bosses to accept the roller lifters, but other than that, if you exchange the whole top from pistons up, you should be OK.   Just be sure you use the same cam of the newer engine with those newer lifters.

Thanks for the info.
Just to be clear, the roller lifters & roller cam (from the 1990) will fit in the 1970 block (even with the shorter bosses)?

No, you need to replace the heads with the newer roller bosses.

Thanx again.
So I can use my heads that I just rebuilt on my older block as well.

I got another question while your at it,

I pulled the cam out of my 1970 block & it was stamped "M" would you happen to know if this is a stock cam?

Thanks a lot - MIKE

Not sure what the "M" stands for.  You should have a part number like D0ZX-C stamped on the end of the oil shaft for it to be stock.  You may have an aftermarket shaft.

you need a reduced base circle cam.... they are pretty pricey if you want to go with a roller setup...
