Flywheel tech / i.d. help please.
« on: April 21, 2009, 04:01:56 PM »
I have the motor and trans out of our 5.0 at the moment to replace the head gaskets, injection system and fit a new clutch.

When i removed the clutch i found that the friction face on the flywheel has tiny cracks in it!! My mate has given me a NEW flywheel that he got in an auto to T5 conversion kit he bought for his '67.

All the parts where labeled as coming from an 89 mustang 5.0, my car is an 89 5.0 but the although the two flywheels look identical the numbers are slightly different.

Old flywheel.     RF-EIZR6380-A2A   B(in a circle)   273P   3    E6ZR-AA L
New flywheel.    RF-EIZR6380-A2A   B(in a circle)   140T   3    E6ZR-AA150 B L

Please could someone tell me if i can use the new one as a straight replacement and also if the flywheel should go back on in exactly the same possition as the old one? are they balanced to the crank?? to offset imbalance within the engine??

Any help would be gratefully received........thank you. ;)
