first car..have some questions..
« on: October 12, 2009, 09:50:49 PM »
im 16 and i bought a 87 mustang GT 5.0....im doing all the work on it myself and just wondering what i can do for gas mileage and what not....it was my project im working on for 6 long months...

i changed spark plugs , spark wiring, k&n air filter, new silicone vacuum lines. battery , alt, belt, oil change, new raditor hoses, thottle senser,..
i have 2 1/2 pipes all the way through and flowmasters...and its a auto :(

im going to put a cold air intake real soon....after that what can i do to make it better on gas because its my daily driver..

i also have a idleing problem ..its not bad but it jumps up and down i changed every line but one..and that line is  rusted..is that the problem?

check your timing. for gas mileage purposes and for a place to start for the idling prob. if its not already there, set it at 10* btdc.

you can do it yourself but you need a timing light.

i dont know exactly..i havent really drivin it since i did the tune up....be4 i was getting 10 a gallon it felt like..

one one questions ..how do you change the vaccum line to the left of the intake maniflod that leading to the back of the engine?

and my other vacuum lines wont come off because of these clamps i never seen be4....the one that goes from the engine to that thing on the frame?

do you know how to take it off?
