Topic: explorer motor/stock HO motor

i just finished, well almost finished my motor.. its in and runnin but not so well..
what is the difference in my old stock HO motor compared to the 97 explorer motor.  i know i have the gt40p heads now and we threw in 1.7 rocker arms.  does anyone know?  im not really all that smart in the mustang stuff yet,  hope to learn it all!

ok the explorer motor is basically like a 93-95 cobra motor only lacking the cobra cam and rockers.

92 was the last year of forged pistons in the 5.0ho and the explorer is no different even the cobras had hyperutic pistons.


if you didnt do a cam swap i highly suggest it as the explorer cam is in no way a performance cam

i put 1.7 rockers on,  arent those the same that the cobra used?

no i believe they were 1.6 just like stock
