drive belt

never changed on on ford , but i need to change this one.i searched but to no avail. so how is it done? it is an 89 5.0 h.o.

If you are talking about the serpentine belt, look to the center and a little left of the belt on top.You will see a wheel  (tensioner) that the belt goes over.  That little wheel is the tightening device.  You will see a nut in the mddle of that little wheel.  Get a breaker bar and a socket and turn that wheel so that the belt loosens, then just slip it off.  Be sure you make a map of how the belt goes on before you take the old one off, so you know how to put the new one back on.  Turn the tensioner in this direction.

Yeah, it's really not a big deal as long as you know how the new one goes back on.  When I first drove my 03 Mach1 back in 2003, the Serpentine belt broke and I had absolutely no idea of how to replace it, so it went to the shop.  It was under warranty anyway, so no big deal, but it looks very complicated unless you are experienced in replacing them.
