how built are we talking about? what i have in the engine is cam 512 512/280 280, 351 heads ported, headers, 4bbl intake factory, bored 40 over with flattops, and part of an msd ignition. also i am running a 5 speed manual trans with 4.11 posi rear. they car will bloody fly whin the carb dus want to work right. it may be this weekend befor i get to try the 750 as we work seperat hours and i wont see him till thin.

750 CFM is a huge carburetor. Try it though. Maybe you have enough goodies to heat up the fuel in the ignition chamber, but I doubt it.

You need to stay in the 500 range of CFM. 650 would be pushing it. You will get wash down in the cylinders and waste a ton of gas. Bigger is definitely not better with these engines.

hey supra, i was wondering what size are those injectors. if you dont convert i might be interested in them if they are 24lb/hr even 30lb/hr.

well the injectors are stock i think lol.

ok i went to the shop tonight and dug around on the shelfs i found a factory ford holly 450cfm and a factory motorcraft off of a 68 lincion with a 460 so i am guessing it is a 600cfm since i cant seem to fined any casting numbers on it

. they should be good since they bothe did work whin pulled and wer baged befor being placed on the shelf, i hope.

we have a winner lol the 68 motorcraft takes the job. amazeing that a 68 carb that has never bin rebuilt (as far as we know) is running better than any of our hollys. i do plan on still trying to fined a fi setup.

I have always preferred a Motorcraft on a Ford engine. In fact, I rebuild carburetors, and I only rebuild Motorcrafts. Not only are they easy to rebuild and adjust, they are tough.

Hollys are great carbs for performance only app;ication. Its good to have another carb while your learning to tweak the holley. I have an ed 625 cfm carb and they are nearly foolproof.

i have never rebuilt one and i thot they wer good carbs but have bin told that they arnt very good for performance aplacations.

Ij you head to your local dragstrip youll find must guys use holleys on there drag cars. For street use you cant beat the Ed carbs they are so simple and cheap. You can often pick nice ones up off craigs list for $50. They have actually been around since the 60's. Edelbrock bought up carter and there carbs are based on the Carter AFB design.

If by performance applications, you mean drag strip racing, I don't have a clue. I don't race. My concern with a Mustang is for daily use as a grocery getter, and a classic that looks good. I don't have any motorcraft carbs to work on do I?

lol wow, i may rebuild this one althow i hate to since it is working. well the acceleratore pump stuck to day alli did ywas tap it and it started to work agin.

Most likely if you tapped the side of the carb, you unstuck the float.

no i taped the pump, it was stuck up so whin i gave it throttle it wouldnt move. anyhow all i know is the car is running great. i did get some new pics of the car today that i will poste for yall to see.

The diaphragm in the pump is probably hard, and the spring may be rusted and about to quit working. Seriously, I would overhaul that carb. You can do it in one afternoon.

yeah i plan on it, it dus seem to be working good now but i will still do a rebuild i got the carb vat to let it sit in and clean it up really good.

Get one of those round stiff brushes to scrub it after you take it out of the vat. Sitting in the vat should only take an overnight soaking. If you don't have an air compressor, get a can of carb cleaner so you can spray out all the holes before you put it back together.

well i got it rebuilt, and i just need to get it tuned. it runs great but when the back two berals open the engin bogs down. at the moment i got the carb on my bronco, it has a 351. i cant fined anything on how to tune theas in the sence of the back two i got the idle good and the fule mixture seems to be good it runs great till i flore it and the back berrals open up thin it bogs down and starts to cut out a bit.

You need to adjust the secondry float so that the secondaries get enough fuel when you stomp on it.It's choking itself to death. Also make sure the secondary butterflies are opening up all the way by adjusting the rod.

ok uhm well the secondaries are opening up all the way, but how do i ujust the amount of fuel it gets. all there is is a brass piston looking thing that is atached to the secondaries, and i dont see how to ajust that. i thot the amount of fuel and air it gets when opening is based on how far they open when flored. so how do i get it to dump more fuel? oh and it is a 4300, off a 68 lincion with a 460.
