Vacuum leaks can cause backfiring, especially the vacuum hose that runs to your distributor.  If I were you, I would perform a general tune-up.

i did new spark plugs , wires, dist, oil change ..air filter. but i didnt change all the vacuum lines..idont know how to change them all....i changed the ones n the front thats it..the one thats has the biggest problem..  is the one that goes from the back of the intake manifold to somewhere to the back of the engine..

i changeed the front two and they were clogged with something..like a couldnt put screw driver throw it...it was that bad..

can you help me change that last hose?

and wat hose are you talking about?

A good investment for you would be to just order a vacuum line routing chart.  Talk to your  local Autozone guy and get the chart.  Some of these Mustangs were made in San Jose, and have different vacuum line requirements from lets say one made in Matuchen, New Jersey.

does it run okay after it warms up. if so check your ect. if its maf then check that. could be something wrong with the tube. running the koer or koeo codes would be the best thing to do. it will give you the best place to start.

do a tune up and also look/listen for vacuum leaks.
