AOD Question

I have a 91 GT and have a bad trans. Can I install a 89 4 cyl. trans in the 91? Thanks.

i wouldn't i belive that they were made with weaker parts in those aod's

Welcome to the site.  I know virtually nothing about the AOD's, but from what I have read, and the feedback we get on here, the conversion can be made with success.

i love the AOD trans.....   if you are looking for a very good and solid one a company in i think tennesse called "D-TRANS" 704-445-4491 the guys name is david, build awesome trans for a great price. he did one for me for $1450  that has full manual valve body, trans brake hardned 1 piece input shaft, 4r70w gear sets, alto red clutches and wider brake bands, all warrantied to 850 wheel hp. no problems in 3 years so far.  he has cheaper ones too

I would say no, for a couple of reasons: Ford in the past had two (or more) different grades of transmissions, one for low power applications (light duty), one for higher power engines, the GT V8; there may be differences in the input shafts ,output (drive) shafts and bell housing. That being said, look for a V8 AOD, don't take the chance.
