95 gt engine problems
« on: December 28, 2009, 10:22:47 AM »
ok.. where to start.. I have a 1995 gt 5.0l convertible w/auto trans that is 100% stock with 124k miles on it.. i have just had the transmission rebuilt and now the engine has NO power... This is my first mustang and i am kinda clueless on how to work on them but i ran a few diagnostics and my #7 cylinder is dead. And I was wondering if some of the veteran mustang guys could help give me a clue as to what I would need to do a general tune up of the car and maybe some more specific reasons that may help fix my dead cylinder problem...any input is welcome and appreciated.

You need to do a couple of tests.  First, take a compression test on each cylinder.  If that all checks out, then check the spark plug wire to the #7 to see if that cylinder is getting spark.  If not, then possibly the wire is shot.

Yeah, cut wires will do that.   ;D
