First of all, welcome to the site.  Here is a Mustang Monthly article that guides you through the process, but it is not a project for a novice.  Good luck with it.

Yeh it would suck if you were a novice. I'm asking if I have to take the dash off, I've heard if your mustang doesn't have ac you can take the heater core out through the bottom of dash. Any body know? thanks

Sounds like you haven't read the article.  Yes, you have to take the dash off unless you are a contortionist.   ;D  I can't imagine an '87 without an AC.

Yeah, if you want aircon, you have to remove the dash. Take the passenger seat out first thing.  Then get a plastic butter dish to collect all the screws.

I finished the heater core install. It went pretty smooth, took me a day, kinda a bitch to do though. I'm sure they could have made it easier to get the heater box out, instead of removing almost everything up front on the inside. Oh yeh you don't have to remove the passenger seat, you might want something soft under your ass because your going to be there for a while. Good luck.
