302/331 Stroker What heads???
« on: November 03, 2009, 08:49:00 PM »
Ok so hear is my deal, I am building a Motor to put into my 87 Fox body mustang But i havent bought anything yet.
I plan i using the stock 302 block and stroking it to a 331.
(This is the kit http://www.strokerkits.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=378&category_id=39&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 )
So now im looking around at heads for it but i am unsure what to look for in them. and im onlt looking to spend around 500$ per head,

All help would be appreciated thanks

Check into AFR (Air Flow Research) heads.  They have the 165's abd the185's.  Most likely you will settle for the 165's if you go with them.

the afr 185's are nice. they also have a nice price. if you want try looking for a set of gt-40's and have some work done on them. its going to be hard to find a good set of heads to help that stroker engine breathe for less then $1000. therea a guy around the corner from me with a 331 with 180cc heads and it runs 11.27.

That's my thought Max.  Just get on a bean and rice diet for a few months and then you can afford the 185's.
