Topic: 302 water pump help

I just bought a new water pump for my 82 mustang.  Only to find out that it doesnt fit right. The pulley hits the balancer pulley.  The numbers on the old pump are  EOAE-8505-AA.  Can someone tell me what pump I need to order.     I am having trouble because its not the orginal engine in this car.  And I have no clue what year it is.  Thanks for any help.  Eric

E= 1980 decade
0= year, in this case 1980
A=Galaxie
E= service part
8505= cooling part

So, you have a 1980 water pump that was used on a 1980 Ford Galaxie.  Most likely that engine was yanked from that Galaxie. 
Take your old pump into the parts store and tell them you need a water pump for a 1980 Galaxie, (most llikely a 302 engine)  and then compare it to your old one.

I cant find anything on a 1980 ford galaxie.  Did they make a 1980 ford galaxie

The "A" in that code indicates it is for a Galaxie, but Ford quit making Galaxies in 1974 .   Just ask for a 1980 Mustang 302 water pump to compare.

Yup, it was a 1980 ford LTD 302.   Thanks for your help.

Ford doesn't even list the LTD in their parts numbering system, so I guess the Galaxie numbers stayed even though they were no longer manufactured.  Glad you got it figured out.
