PCV valve question

(1/1)

Joesfriend:
Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum. My name is Paul and I was wondering if there are any others who may have experienced a similar problem and have found a solution or simply have the knowledge to solve the following issue:

The car is a 2003 Mustang Cobra, 4.6 litre with double overhead cams and variable valve timing. It is supercharged and puts out 390 HP. It is currently losing approximately a pint of oil every 500 Km (300 miles). Oil loss seems worse when the engine is under load (accelerating quickly), and the oil seems to end up in the air filter housing!

There are 2 sizes of PCV valve available for this vehicle, and mine seems to be the smaller size. I'm wondering if this could be the problem and the PCV valve is just too restricted to vent properly? The current valve is new and clear (not gummed up), yet I suspect there is a venting problem since the oil is making its way to the intake air filter. The valve gear is spotless, so there is not an issue with sludge build-up under the rocker covers. Using the larger size PCV valve would require all new piping to accommodate the larger diameter valve. Anyone have any ideas?
