Have a 2002 4.6 (110K+) - The hose fitting on the back of the back of the intake broke when a tune up was being done. The guy advised you have to move the hose to access the coil pack, and when he moved the hose the intake broke where the hose attached. The guy doing the tune up showed me the parts, oIt looked real brittle & broke into several parts inside the hose, and the guy said this happens due to heat and coolant after time & he did nothing wrong, but I will have to replace the intake. Does this sound like he is on the up & up? The shop comes recommended

Was a Recall on these plastic intakes , ive not had a problem yet, but ford is supposed to replace these intakes free of charge;;;; original owner , 2nd hand ...........call th e dealer......you might get lucky

I also remember a recall on those plastic intakes. Ford should replace it free of charge. Why in hell Ford would make plastic intakes in the first place is beyond me. I wouldn't blame the mechanic. But, I would hold the shop responsible for checking into the recall.
