Horse-hide interior. Huge glass roof. Carbon-fiber fenders. Electrically operated scissor doors. Even if you forget about the voluptuously resculpted sheetmetal, it’s clear this isn’t a typical Mustang.

Reinterpreted by Giorgetto Giugaro, his son Fabrizio, and the rest of the highly skilled designers at the famed Giugaro design works in Turin, this ‘Stang represents an impressive blend of American muscle and Italian design. To create the car’s unique look, Giugaro pulled the body panels in as tight as they could go, reduced the rear overhang, and widened the car by 1.2 inches in the front and 3.1 inches at the back. The result is a beautiful fastback that fills our heads with images of early-’70s Boss Mustangs.

2007 Ford Mustang Boss 302

August 4th, 2006

2007 Mustang Boss 302

The Magazine Motortrend is reporting in its latest issue that a Mustang Boss 302 will be produced for the last year of the actual Mustang before its redesign in 2008. The engine could be a 5.0L V8 or exactly 302 C.I. in size with a power of about 390 horsepower.

The Boss will receive the Shelby GT500’s suspension package and the interior will be stripped to reduce its weight.

It seems the Mustang Boss 302 will be as light as a V6 Mustang, more powerfull than a V8 GT and cheaper than a Shelby GT500.

Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible

May 1st, 2006

Mustang Shelby GT500 convertibleMustang Shelby GT500 convertible

A convertible version of the Mustang Shelby GT500 will be added to SVT’s catalog in 2007.

The Ford Mustang GT500 Convertible is the successor to the Mustang Cobra convertible. Its supercharged iron 5.4-liter V8 will produce 475 lb-ft of torque and 475 hp–approximately seventy hp less than the 550-hp all-aluminum version of this engine in the GT supercar. That power goes through a six-speed stick and a solid rear end (no fancy independent rear suspension this time). Surprisingly, only eighteen-inch wheels will be offered initially–the same size that’s optional on the Mustang GT–but keen Mustang fans will spot the unique rim design, more aggressive front end styling, and power vent hood. Ford spruced up the GT500 with a fabric roof (instead of vinyl), a leather-wrapped dash, and the basic Mustang interior is a pretty nice place anyhow. The GT500 Convertible goes on sale concurrently with the coupe in the summer of 2006 at a sticker price of less than $45,000.
