2007 Ford Mustang Giugiaro Concept
November 28th, 2006Horse-hide interior. Huge glass roof. Carbon-fiber fenders. Electrically operated scissor doors. Even if you forget about the voluptuously resculpted sheetmetal, it’s clear this isn’t a typical Mustang.
Reinterpreted by Giorgetto Giugaro, his son Fabrizio, and the rest of the highly skilled designers at the famed Giugaro design works in Turin, this ‘Stang represents an impressive blend of American muscle and Italian design. To create the car’s unique look, Giugaro pulled the body panels in as tight as they could go, reduced the rear overhang, and widened the car by 1.2 inches in the front and 3.1 inches at the back. The result is a beautiful fastback that fills our heads with images of early-’70s Boss Mustangs.
The Giugaro Mustang has been given a thorough mechanical workover, too. The 4.6-liter V-8 now features an intercooled, twin-screw supercharger plus Ford GT fuel injectors. Taken with increased intake and exhaust flow, the changes bump output to an estimated 500 hp. To improve handling, Ford Racing donated new dampers, springs, and antiroll bars, and the concept rides about an inch and a half lower than a production Mustang GT.

The looks are getting closer to the ‘70 Mustang. Its only a concept car now, so it will change. I like it.

I heard this car was a one of a kind and will never be produced. They create the sleekest, most eye appealing Mustang since the 64 1/2 and they are not making it a production car?Why torture us like that.I mean its not bad enough that they make the GT an almost improbability for us common folk and they make only one real sports car that we can afford and the nice one is not mass produced.I am a Mustang fan whole heartedly but they should make at least a few 100k of them for sale.Like the Enzo Ferrari…they make less than 400 and but a 3/4 million dollar sticker on it when they could make them available on a wider basis and slap it with a 250k tag.C’mon you guys at ford are killing us…we want that car.

I have mixed feelings about this concept. I think it’s gorgeous, but the mustang doesn’t need to be turned into an italian car. I do like the body, but I don’t think it should be that sleek. Mustang is known for its bold outlines.

I fell in love with my first new ‘69 and have never stopped loving them. Mustang is a concept in itself. It is truly one of the heroes of the last 40 years. Yes I agree whole heartedly that it Mustang represents muscle. But it is a classic of style and beauty. Done right, Mustang power can be a thing of pure beauty…not to mention the fantastic feeling of satisfaction one get sitting behind the wheel.
I think Giorgetto Giugaro’s concept simply allows beauty and the muscle to advance yet one more generation into ultimate refinement. It gets my vote all the way!

ya its a beautiful car but take a look at the 2007 camaro concept . they could be twins . i love mustangs and have owned two . but i have to say i agree with the fact that it could be mistaken for an italian car . but who knows what could happen when roush gets his hands on it.

I have fallen in love with mustangs since I saw a 1970 Boss 302 cruising down the highway. I want a mustang sooooooooo bad! This concept is a slick car but it may have a few disadvantages but if it was ever put on the road I would SO get one!!!!!!!! It looks a lot like a european car but I won’t hold that against it. Like I said before it’s a SLICK car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It gets my 100% vote! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
