Roush Reactor Fastback Mustang
November 5th, 2006
After the Kona 1967 fastback Mustang the Ringbrothers presented their new creation at Sema this year.
The olive drab paint color that covers the car’s carbon fiber body panels is a nice detour away from the Highlighter Yellow and Orange colors that so many cars are wearing at SEMA this year. The Ringbrothers removed the drip rails and door handles so that those expanses of colored carbon fiber could be better viewed. The matte six-spoke wheels continue the muted color scheme and the lip on those rear rims is too wide to believe. The engine is Roush’s new show-n-go 427 R crate motor that produces 552 horsepower and 535 ft-lbs. of torque, but still looks good enough to win awards under that vented hood. While there are Mustangs in attendance at the SEMA show that have more powerful engines and more sensational modifications (the Obsidian comes to mind), we’d be hard pressed to find one as well done as the Reactor. Good luck to its owner in winning the Good Guys Street Machine of the Year Award.

Over the top. And probably cost more than a Mustang FR500C–maybe even more than Dan Davis’s “man racer” unveiled at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Maybe even more that a Ford GT. And all that silvery (brushed aluminum? brushed stainless?) trim around the taillights, on the hood, on the brake cooling (?) ducts in the front airdam/splitter/under-bumper-spoiler/whatever, and where the vents were on the C-pillars of OEM ’67s is just too Silverado SS to ever belong on a Mustang. The workmanship looks flawless inside and out, and good workmanship is worth a lot. One-and-a-half stars…

I’m restoring a 67 mustang and I would really appreciate it if you could tell me where you got some of the pats for the Reactor.
