2009 Mustang & 2012 4 door Mustang
September 22nd, 2006According to Road and Track magazine, Ford’s applying a bit more new hotness to keep the Mustang’s current succes status in its category. A facelfit for the 2009 model year will give it a more modern and aggressive look, using the same approach to GM’s future Camaro. The base model will get Ford’s new, 3.5-liter V6, producing over 260 hp and a new version of a 5.0 L V8. Later, a new generation will arrive in 2012, based on the Australian Ford Falcon, which may be available with a … four door version.

well…i’ve been a fan of the mustange all my life…i’ve loved every look…but this one i cant get with…it just doesn’t look like a mustang…i hope that this isn’t the final model for it

It’s the evil spawn of a 350Z crossed with the Camaro concept–which itself is a ‘71 Celica ST that’s been stretched a foot in length and six inches in width, with dorky gills added ahead of the rear wheels so you won’t figure out the Toyota ancestry…

What are they thinking after bringing back a great look in 2005. I own a 2006 GT and love the styling..this looks exactly like the 2009 Camaro….both cars are distinctive…not clones..this design sucks!!!

You guys have already proven retro rules with the 05, 06 and 07 Mustang. Stay pure American Muscle, not Euro trash.
If you want to design and Italian car create on like the Pantera. Remember? Lets get the MACH 1 on the street and watch sales boom through the roof.

wow thats ugly fords tough muscle look gives in to the modern petite sports car look i didnt think it would get that low man thats nothing id ever waste money on i agree with every negative comment on this piece of crap i hope the poor little guys that buy this heap in the future dont get over looked and run over by the real mustangs…. you know the ones that are actually muscle cars and not little girls cars

I would agree this shape needs more work, but I welcome the prospect of SOME kind of U.S. Ford combining four doors, eight cylinders and three pedals. Why should the Australians, with their awe-inspiring Falcon XR8 family, have all the fun, while we’re sentenced to death through boredom with the Five Hundred?

Why is it that whenever Ford finally comes up with a brilliant design, they find some way to muck it up? We saw this before in 1974 with the awful Ghia Mustang II (bleech!). Ford has finally breathed life back into the Mustang and are now looking to once again, stab it in the back. But, that’s ok. I just purchased an ‘06 Mustang GT. Once this redesign/4-door hits the market, my Mustang will be going into the garage with a cover on it, and i’ll just sit back over the decades and watch the value skyrocket while the rest of the American market is flooded with so-called “Mustangs”. They will really only be shells of their former greatness. You know what; when 2009 rolls around and I garage my ‘Stang, I think i’ll get a New Camaro. Just to piss off the “Designers” at Ford.

All this talk about a 4-door mustang has finally been translated!!
There will not be any 4-door mustang. FoMoCo has taken the Mustang frame, strecthed it out, built a 4-door sedan with a “Cammer V8″, and badged it the “Interceptor.” The Mustang name has been saved, and the “Interceptor” actually looks pretty hot. The Chrysler 300C would cry if it actually came to market.

What the ….. What is wrong with ford. I mean talking about a 4 door mustang in 2012. NO NO NO…. aw man is that a big NO NO, I cant believe they’re are actualy thinking about taking a traditional 2 door and making it a 4 door, that likes ruins the stang….. and If the drawing above will actualy be the 09′ Mustang then who was smoking what when they done that. C’on thats ugly. Why don’t ford ask the people what they want. I mean Look the boss 302 thats going to be a hit, also the Shelby GT Mustang is hot, but not this, 4 doors, that stupid, dont pull a dodge, come one you’ll ruin everything about a mustang. I sure hope that in the future, they dont consider doing what the previous post said,…. A GM motor in a Ford???? thats just as bad as the 4 door idea. God Help them. I mean Ford is doing Great with the 05-07 model, it was a big hit. I just hope that Ford will put their head together and make something brilliant. We die hard mustang fans Want a V8 and tons of HP. we want to be able to look at a GM, Dodge Honda, Nissan and just laugh b/c there stock hp is no match for the Mustang. 305 HP is great Thats a great start I hope you keep that or give it more. I wouldn’t get upset over the picture. It’s just some artist’s idea. Remember all of the concept drawings and photochops before the 2005 Mustang came out? Not a single one had any resemblence to what finally came out. In fact, even the 4-door rumor was tossed around before the 2005 model.

What’s next? Station wagon?,Front wheel drive perhaps? . Fords problem is that their trying too hard to impress the wrong people. This is not what Mustangs are suppsoed to look or be like. Ford wont get back on track by advertising garbage like this.

Not four doors or a wagon. That will ruin the legacy. It is meant to be a two door. Looks too Italian, and way too close to the Camaro in this concept. I do think there does need to be more horsepower for the amount of liters and size engine, and it definitely needs independent rear suspension. Is there also any way for it to handle better? I would love to see it compete against the German cars and win (though at this point, the Mustang isn’t even a challenge)…

Its horrible!!! Espically the triangular lights!!!! It looks like a blob of ugliness on wheels! It looks way too futuristic! They’ve ruined it. I used to love the look of mustangs. I would never buy this. It is very ugly. On a scale from A-F and 1-10 i’d give it an E- and a 0.0!!! Great way to ruin it ford!!!
